The new look Marketing Week has had a strange effect on me. Reading the 16th October issue on the No 11 bus this morning (I’m catching up), I felt inspired once I arrived in the office to draw what can be very loosely described as a flow chart, attempting to visualise the direction of digital marketing travel evidenced by MW coverage of Ebay, Lidl & Diageo.

Diageo are bringing their sales and marketing closer together, Lidl is launching a site for customer engagement and Ebay wants to ‘re-engage with customers’. Based on these three stories, you might surmise that digital marketing is all about engagement allied to leads. To deliver that change, brands are changing their content strategies to align with customer behaviour – as indeed Marketing Week has just done itself.

Excellent, that’s cleared that up then. Just the small business of delivery now. Deep breath.
